The Professorship of Political Theory at the KU Faculty of History and Social Sciences invites applications for a part-time position (75%) as
research associate (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (m/w/d))
to be filled by October 01, 2026, with an initial contract duration of 3 years with the envisaged option of an extension. The place of work shall be Eichstätt. The successful candidate will be employed in a private-law employment relationship, in which case remuneration will be according to pay grade E 13 TV-L provided that the requirements are met.
The successful candidate may also pursue doctoral research as part of their work if desired; the University is particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates who wish to make use of this opportunity.
Your tasks
- Support for the Professorship’s research activities (including third-party funding initiatives, organizing conferences and workshops, and publication projects)
- Independent completion of a doctoral project
- Independent delivery of courses in the Faculty’s Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs
- Student support and advising, administration of exams
- Contributions to academic self-administration
Your profile
- At the time of hiring, a Master’s degree in Political Science (or a related field) completed with very good or good grades
- Willingness to pursue a doctoral degree on a topic in the field of political theory and the history of ideas, ideally aligned with the Professorship’s research profile (in particular democratic theory, political theory of the city, democratic innovations, politics, and law)
- Preference will be given to candidates with initial experience in supporting research, publication, and third-party funded projects, as demonstrated, for example, by work as a student assistand or research associate
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills, as well as a willingness to teach courses in German and English
